Located at the base of the Santa Rosa
Mountains, east of Palm Springs, La Quinta is a fairly large city
which nudges back into a hollow (especially on its south side)
formed by Indio Mountain, 2,226 feet high, and a smaller mountain
to the south. This makes for an unusually pretty setting, which
is, in addition to low humidity combined with an abundance of
sunshine year-round, undoubtedly why so many residents have come
to the area.
The streets are clean and everything is well
maintained due to the attentiveness of the many La Quintans who
live there year round. Listed as one of California's fastest
growing cities, La Quinta has experienced rapid growth in the past
20 years (the population having quadrupled), and continues to do
so since the vast majority of its open space is so attractive to
developers. |
